Discussion of partnership mechanism and cooperation between the Council and UNHCR.

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs discussed today with the Acting Resident Representative of UNHCR in Yemen, Martin Athr, in the presence of Sebastian Trev, Director General of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the mechanisms of partnership mechanism , arrangement of work as well as areas of coordination and cooperation between the Council and the Office of the Commission.

The meeting touched on aspects of cooperation and coordination between the Council and UNCHR  . It also discussed the mechanisms of joint work that ensure the continuity of work and achieve the desired results to alleviate the suffering of displaced people and the affected people in  Yemen.

He pointed out the necessity of taking care of the displaced people who  strongly suffer under low services in all centers  of displaced persons . He also stressed the importance  of providing  them of what is appropriate especially in the harsh winter, in which displaced people need many requirements to cope with the winter cold.

He indicated the necessity forming  a joint committee of both parties that discusses all the problems to find appropriate solutions and remedies to ensure that it continues to work under partnership, coordination and fruitful cooperation that serves the course of humanitarian action.

In the other hand, Martin stressed the commission’s commitment to cooperate and coordinate with the national authorities represented by the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and  making  all efforts regarding the issues of displaced persons and contribute to alleviating suffering and promoting humanitarian work.
