Opening development and service projects in Ibb Governorate with more than 4 million and 500 thousand dollars
As part of SCMCHA’s efforts to direct funds towards the implementation of development and service projects that meet the needs of the citizen, and contribute to alleviating the human suffering that the Yemeni people have experienced as a result of the aggression and siege that has lasted 9 years.
The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Ibrahim Al-Hamli, and the Governor of Ibb, Abdul Wahed Salah, inaugurated a number of development and service projects in the field of roads and water, with more than 4 million and 563 thousand dollars, equivalent to (2 billion and 432 million Yemeni riyals).
The projects included the opening of a project to maintain and rehabilitate the southern street of Ibb city, starting from Husayla Jableh – Shaban, with a length of five kilometers and 130 meters, at a value of one million and 142 thousand dollars, funded by UNOPS.
A project to rehabilitate the ring road in Yarim city was also opened, at a cost of one million and 355 thousand dollars, funded by UNOPS.
Al-Hamali and Salah also inaugurated the maintenance project for the northern entrance to the city of Ibb, extending from the Al-Dhuhub roundabout to the Al-Udayn roundabout, with a length of four kilometers and 350 meters, at a cost of $869,000, funded by UNOPS.
Al-Hamli and Salah, along with the director of the UNICEF office in Yemen, Rehana Zwar, inaugurated the main line project for the sewage network from Sailat Jableh to the treatment plant, at a value of $361,285, funded by UNICEF through UNOPS.
They also inaugurated a project to supply, install and operate off-grid solar energy systems in the city of Ibb – Al-Sahol Hospital, Nasser Hospital, and Maternity and Childhood Hospital, with a total capacity of 128 kilowatts and a value of 502 thousand dollars, funded and implemented by UNOPS.
The Secretary-General of SCMCHA and the Governor of Ibb also inaugurated work on a project to supply and install a hybrid solar energy system for a wastewater treatment plant at a value of 334 thousand and 125 dollars, funded by UNOPS.
They reviewed the list of implemented and approved projects of the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation and its affiliated branches that were implemented and are being implemented with funding from UNOPS through the Water and Sanitation Project for Urban Cities during the period from 2023 to 2024 AD, for 13 projects with a cost at one million 737 thousand and 818 dollars.
The Secretary-General of SCMCHA, the Governor of Ibb and the Director of the United Nations Office also reviewed the progress of the technical equipment in the Heart and Cardiac Catheterization Center at Al-Thawra Teaching Hospital, with a capacity of 22 beds.
Al Hamli stressed the keenness to implement the directives of the Leader of the Revolution and the Chairman of the Supreme Political Council and work to implement projects that meet the needs of the residents of Ibb Governorate
Al-Hamli confirmed that the opening of the projects comes as part of SCMCHA’s interest in implementing development and service projects that meet the needs of the citizen and contribute to alleviating human suffering.
The opening was attended by the general directors of SCMCHA branch in Ibb, Abdul Rahman Al-Arjali, the Monitoring and Evaluation department, Muhammad Al-Razzaa, the International organizations, Turki Jamil, the local organizations, Abdul Salam Al-Nawab, and a number of officials and stakeholders in the governorate.
