Statistics of families affected by floods in 14 governorates and the humanitarian response

Floods in a number of Yemeni governorates have damaged some homes, camps and infrastructure, amidst civilian deaths and injuries, which has exacerbated the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people as a result of the aggression and siege.

The damages since the end of July until August 15 in 14 governorates under the control of the Supreme Political Council amounted to about 33,140 families, most of whom are IDPs.

A preliminary report by the Information Center of SCMCHA indicated that (33,140) families were affected in various parts of 14 governorates.

Al Hudaydah Governorate was the most affected governorate, with (10,463) families affected, with 31 deaths, and (9,686) in Hajjah, including (2,800) families in Abs District, who were IDPs, and (2,301) in Saada, with two deaths. And (2,740) families in Dhamar Governorate, and (2,699) families in Sana’a Governorate,

(2,476) in Al Jawf, and (1,281) in Taiz, and (226) in Raymah, and (238) in Ibb Governorate, and (218) in Al Bayda; and (351) families in Al Mahwit, and (117) in the capital, and (176) in Amran, amid expectations that the number will increase as the teams continue to evaluate.

*Humanitarian Response*

SCMCHA and its branches in the governorates, in partnership with humanitarian partners, continue to provide humanitarian response to affected families in a number of governorates.

According to the initial response report, SCMCHA worked with a number of UN, international and local organizations to provide shelter, in-kind, cash and food assistance to approximately 20,266 families in the affected governorates.

In Al Hudaydah Governorate, various assistance was disbursed to approximately 9,933 families, and (2,667) families in Hajjah Governorate.

(2892) families in Saada Governorate, and aid was disbursed to (1202) families in Ibb Governorate.

 

(118) in Al Bayda Governorate, and (162) in Al Jawf Governorate, and shelter and in-kind aid was disbursed to (878) families in the capital,

(451) families in Dhamar Governorate, and (229) families in Raymah Governorate, and (258) families benefited from aid in Sana’a Governorate, and (257) families benefited in Al Mahwit Governorate.

In Amran Governorate, (814) families benefited from aid, and (405) families benefited in Al Dhale’ Governorate.
