Head of Supreme Council discusses cooperation with MÉDECINS SANS FRONTIÈRES.
The Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, The President of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Coopration Ahmed Hamed, met today in Sana’a with Spanish representatives of (MSF) Caroline Durcam,Frensh representative of (MSF), Ahmed Mehta ,Swiss representative of (MSF) and The organization’s advisor, Marwan Taher.
The meeting discussed cooperation between Yemen and MSF in the humanitarian field, especially at this sensitive stage in Yemen’s history.
The meeting touched on the suffering of Yemen, particularly the Tihama region such as spreading of diseases and epidemics under deterioration of health services as a result of the aggression and blockade, as well as the contributions of organizations in combating epidemics and reducing their spread.
During the meeting, the Head of the Supreme Council praised the efforts of MSF organizations in Yemen, especially under circumstances in Yemen and the spread of diseases and epidemics. He stressed the importance of organization’s contributing to support efforts in Hodeidah province to fill the marshes and remove the waste and the hotbeds causing the spread of epidemics.
Ahmed Hamid pointed out the importance of helping organizations to urgently provide support to cancer and heart disease patients, especially children, in coordination with the Ministry of Health. He called for more efforts and rapid intervention with regard to the medical bridge, especially since there are 32,000 patients who need to travel for treatment abroad.
The Head of the Council confirmed the cooperation of the official bodies with the organizations. He expressed his readiness to solve the obstacles that might face the work of the Organization and to intervene in its resolution.
For their part, representatives of Doctor of (MSF) expressed their thanks to the Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic for all the facilities it provides in order to facilitate and overcome the difficulties in the work of the organizations. They confirmed that MSF will work to raise its level of activity to help the Yemeni people, especially in the field of facing diseases and epidemics.
