Tawoos discusses with Red Cross mission the means of aid and relief work in Hodeidah.

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation ,Abdul Mohsen Tawoos, met today with the head of the ICRC delegation in Yemen, Franz Raukhinstein.

The meeting, which was attended by the Deputy Head of mission, David Gutchman, discussed the ICRc’s activities and the ICRC’s humanitarian efforts as well as the ways to strengthen and develop them.

The meeting touched on the difficulties facing the humanitarian work due to the sensitivity of the situation in Hodeidah and the joint coordination mechanism to ensure that the work is facilitated in accordance with the data of humanitarian work and the criteria that was followed by the organizations in light of the exceptional situation that the country is going through as a result of the aggression and blockade.

The Secretary-General of the Council stressed the impotence of positively dealing with the suffering of the people of the areas of confrontation in Hodeidah, and the humanitarian situation in the region. He also stressed the mission’s role and the importance of its commitment to its duty to deliver humanitarian assistance there.

Tawoos pointed out the importance of strengthening the aspects of coordination between the Council and the mission to facilitate the work in various areas. He called on the mission to contribute to the precautionary measures to counter the coronavirus, by equipping quarantine at all land ports.

In turn, Franz paid tribute to the cooperation of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs and its role in facilitating the work of the organizations. He expressed his gratitude for the Council’s interaction with the problems facing the Red Cross and work to find appropriate solutions and remedies.
