Tawoos discusses with MSF the mechanism for coordinating the response to COVID-19.
The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation (SCMCHA) Abdelmohsen Tawoos met today with The head of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Caroline Durcam, and The head of Netherlands’s Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Stephanie Vobert.
During the meeting, the coordination mechanism was discussed to facilitate the work and functions of the Spanish and Dutch MSFduring the precautionary measures to confront Corona.
The meeting touched on coordination mechanisms to enable the organization to perform its tasks, especially the facilities that can be provided to introduce medicines, medical supplies and specialized personnel, facilitate the movement of medical teams and work to provide a list of hospital requirements to fight the COVID-19.
In the meeting, Tawoos stressed importance of taking care and implementing precautionary measures to prevent corona. He also pointed out the importance of the role of organizations working in the humanitarian and health field, including Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), to intervene quickly in hospitals and ports, provide as many emergency and necessary needs as possible for medical facilities, ports, health centres and quarantine , as well as distribute field teams in the provinces as a precautionary measure to contribute of confronting Corona and preventing its entry into Yemen.
He stressed the need to provide hospitals and ports with the necessary solutions and medical devices that contribute to the detection of infection, equipping ICU intensive care rooms and providing respirators and other prevention supplies to raise the level of readiness and face any emergency.
The Secretary General of SCMCHA confirmed that the council will work to provide the necessary facilities for the organizations, enabling them to contribute to the rapid intervention in health ports and quarantine in all provinces.
