Workshop in Sana’a about managing camps for displaced people.
A workshop about managing camps for displaced people and coordinating their activities began today in Sana’a, in cooperation between SCMCHA and UNHCR.
The three-day workshop aims to discuss topics related to coordination and cooperation between the Supreme Council and UNHCR about displaced persons and the management of camps to ensure that the situation of displaced persons in order raise and help them overcome their problems.
At the opening, the head of the Planning Department of the Supreme Council, Eng. Mutahar Zaid, stressed the importance of the workshop to clarify the frameworks and procedures for joint coordination between the Council and unhcr in order to contribute to organization and arrangement of the works as well ensure their success in order to serve the displaced, alleviate their suffering and contribute to their protection and preservation of their human dignity.
He said joint work based on coordination and cooperation will have a positive impact on the response to any emergency and have a positive impact on the implementation of humanitarian work.
In an online voice-over, UNHCR Camp Bloc Coordinator Roxendra Boger indicated the importance of the workshop in developing mechanisms and standards that contribute to the humanitarian situation for displaced persons, stressing that joint action will support the humanitarian process and achieve its goals and objectives.
The opening of the workshop was attended by The Head of the Coordination Department Faisal Meshejh, Head of the Department of International Cooperation Man’a Al-Asal and a number of directors-general of the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council and branches and specialists in the department of displacement in the coordination department and representatives of UNHCR.
