Tawoos discusses with FAO’s emergency director strengthening cooperation in agricultural field.
The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation , Abdul Mohsen Tawoos, met the Emergency Director of FAO Dominique Bergion and his delegation.
During the meeting, they discussed the importance of strengthening the areas of cooperation between the organization and Yemen in the agricultural field, which contributes of alleviating the suffering of citizens in the circumstances that the country is going through as a result of the aggression and blockade.
At the meeting, Tawoos welcomed FAO’s emergency director,confirming the importance of supporting Yemen in agricultural development and combating desert locusts urgently as it threatens food security sources.
He expressed the aspiration for further cooperation by FAO to support the Ministry of Agriculture as well as develope the capacity of its cadres because of the importance of the agricultural sector.
Tawoos confirmed thet the equipment and other supplies should be of high quality pesticides that have no side effects on agricultural crops and the environment. He also stressed the council’s readiness to provide all facilities for FAO activities.
For his part, the UN official confirmed FAO’s keenness to continue supporting Yemen and support efforts to develop the agriculture sector and strengthen its role as well as in the field of combating plant pests that threaten agricultural crops, especially desert locusts.
