Discuss ways to address critical health conditions for children in Yemen.
The Head of the Department of International Cooperation at the Supreme Council for The Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Mana’a Al-Asal, discussed today with UNICEF Health Department Chief Dr. Nazhat Rafiq the health situation of a number of critical and exceptional cases of children under the ongoing siege and aggression.
At the meeting, which was in the presence of Director General of UN and International Organizations at the Council, Turki Jamil and Ministry of Health representative Morteza Hassan Morteza.
Al-Asal confirmed the importance of the humanitarian role that humanitarian organizations, including UNICEF, should play in providing health care for this group.
He said that measures and treatments are important to ensure that children with exceptional and critical conditions are rescued, including the Siamese twins, who need to travel and other twins who need emergency and necessary care.
UNICEF’s health department officer said UNICEF’s role is limited to providing primary health care under the preventive programme, which means that it is difficult to provide services for chronic diseases and emergency response, which global health considers to be a greater role in providing this type of response.
The organization would make every effort to alleviate the suffering of Yemeni children.
The meeting reviewed the case of the Siamese twins, which requires travel abroad and emergency treatment.
