Tawoos discusses with WFP problems of relief work.

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdul Mohsen Tawoos, discussed today with the Director of the Procurement Unit at WFP Headquarters, Konjit Kidani, joint cooperation aspects of the humanitarian field.

The meeting,in the presence of the head of Single Window Department of SCMCHA, Hamza Al-Mukhtar, touched on issues related to food shipments that arrive Yemen are corrupt and are rejected and returned from the port of Hodeidah, as well as the development of appropriate solutions to this problem.

Tawoos confirmeden the importance of finding a radical solution with regard to corrup shipments or expired materials from the source or near completion, or if they were damaged as a result of poor transportation, storage and packaging.

Tawoos indicated that SCMCHA in coordination with the concerned authorities, cannot allow the entry of any foodstuffs that do not comply with quality standards and measures.

He reiterated SCMCHA’s keenness to provide all facilities for the humanitarian activities of the WFp in Yemen, pointing to a significant slowdown in the provision of technical equipment related to the biometric registration project to include all governorates.

Tawoos also indicated that the biometric registration will address the majority of problems and errors represented in damaged or expired food shipments, as well as will correct the lists of beneficiaries.

The meeting was attended by the Director of International and UN Organizations Turki Jamil, and the Director of SCMCHA’s Branch in Hodeidah Jaber Al-Razhi.
