Tawoos inaugurates Shelter Solutions Exhibition for IDP camps in Sana’a
The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdulmohsen Tawoos, inaugurated today the technical exhibition of models of shelter and temporary housing for the displaced, Shelter Solutions.
The exhibition, which is funded by the Shelter Cluster and UNHCR through Jeel Al Bina Foundation for Development, and hosted by SCMCHA over a month, aims to display models of shelter and temporary housing for IDP.
Tawoos, in the presence of the Deputy Representative of UNHCR in Yemen, Iraj Amomberdev, were briefed on models of IDP camps .
Tawoos explained that the exhibition aims to inform specialists, stakeholders, and affected communities, about the basic needs of displaced families, and work to improve designs for shelter solutions after the show.
He pointed out that the wave of displacement has increased continuously as a result of the aggression and siege that has been in place for seven years, which has exacerbated the suffering of the displaced and formed a population density, indicating that SCMCHA is working with humanitarian partners to develop the camps for the displaced and include all the necessary needs.
For his part, the Deputy Representative of the UNHCR explained that the technical working team of the Shelter Cluster is working to review and develop the shelter to better suit the needs of the displaced.
In turn, the head of the Jeel Al-Bina Foundation, Amin Jubran, explained that the exhibition contains six models of a medium-term shelter, an emergency one, an emergency toilet, and a water point.
The opening was attended by heads of departments, general directors , SCMCHA employees, and a number of representatives of local and international organizations.
