Al-Hamali: 35 billion riyals were spent on 1.5 million beneficiaries of Social Security
The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Ibrahim Al-Hamli, confirmed that “the total beneficiaries of emergency cash transfers to social security beneficiaries is one million and 500 thousand beneficiaries, at an amount of 35 billion riyals.”
Al-Hamli explained that the number of beneficiaries of cash transfers in 13th Cycle of the project is one million and 500 thousand beneficiaries registered in the lists of the Social Welfare Fund, distributed over 22 governorates and 331 districts and supporting approximately 11 million people.
He pointed out that the total amount allocated for this Cycle is 35 billion Yemeni riyals, funded by the World Bank through UNICEF, and the implementation was by Social Welfare Fund for Development, the disbursement process will continue until 7 of July .
He pointed out that the SCMCHA worked with UNICEF to determine the basic amount of the social welfare fund in US dollars, and to transfer it to Yemeni riyals based on the exchange rate in each region.
Al-Hamli indicated that the disbursement process accommodated people with special needs and the elderly, within the approved cases in the lists of the Social Welfare Fund, as well as worked to simplify the disbursement process for all beneficiaries.
He pointed out that SCMCHA worked to simplify the exchange process by facilitating field teams for home delivery and exchange for the elderly and the disabled through fixed and mobile exchange agents’ centers in all governorates.
