Al-Hamli meets the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs
The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Ibrahim Al-Hamli, met today in Al-Hodeidah, UN Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Relief Coordinator JoyceMsuy, and the Deputy Director of Operations, Director of the Middle East and North Africa Division at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs In New York, Tariq Talahmeh.
During the meeting, attended by the United Nations Coordinator in Yemen, William David Grisley, and the Yemen Affairs Officer in the Operations and Advocacy Department of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Alexandra Jackson, they discussed the worst humanitarian crisis in the world, which the Yemeni people have been dealing with for eight years under the aggression and siege.
The meeting touched on joint humanitarian action to alleviate human suffering through the implementation of humanitarian, development and service projects that contribute to alleviating suffering.
Al-Hamli called on the Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs to support the Mine Center by providing the necessary devices to detect and clear mines and remnants of the aggression, which resulted in civilian casualties.
He stressed the importance for humanitarian work jointly with SCMCHA as it is the only way in Yemen, which is concerned with humanitarian and development work.
Al Hamli urged the Secretary-General assistance for more humanitarian work to lleviate the human suffering experienced by the Yemeni people.
In turn, the Assistant Secretary-General appreciated the role of SCMCHA in facilitating the work of organizations, stressing the commitment of the United Nations to work to alleviate human suffering.
